Akamai Cloud, in short

What stood out when we read the documents: strengths, weaknesses, who it suits, and what we could not find.

Strengths

  • 22 core regions carry the 'GPU Linodes' capability in the public regions API, across 11 countries.
  • RTX 4000 Ada from 0.52 USD/h (x1 Small: 4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB disk).
  • Managed Kubernetes (LKE) accepts GPU worker nodes, with NVIDIA drivers installed automatically on standard clusters.
  • Up to 8 RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell cards (768 GB VRAM) per VM, with vNUMA on 8-card plans.
  • Cards, Google Pay, PayPal, and check/ACH/wire on request; 7-day full refund on account cancellation.
  • Official Terraform provider (linode/linode, Partner tier on the Terraform Registry), open-source CLI, public unauthenticated price and region API endpoints.
  • 24/7 ticket and phone support at no extra cost.

Weaknesses

  • No data-center training GPUs (no H100, H200, B200, A100, MI300X); catalogue limited to professional RTX cards.
  • RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell and Quadro RTX 6000 plans are limited availability; Quadro RTX 6000 cannot join LKE clusters.
  • Powered-off instances are billed in full; hourly billing rounded up, no per-second billing.
  • No outbound transfer included on RTX 4000 Ada and RTX PRO 6000 plans (0.005 USD/GB metered egress).
  • Quadro RTX 6000 (Turing, 24 GB) costs 1.50 USD per GPU-hour.
  • A 100 USD deposit may be required before a new account can deploy GPU Linodes.
  • No spot/interruptible or reserved GPU pricing and no serverless GPU product documented.
  • Documented limitations on Blackwell plans: watchdog restart, slow deletions, no live migration.

Ideal for

  • Existing Linode/Akamai customers who want inference or video-encoding GPUs next to their other services
  • Small inference and graphics workloads on RTX 4000 Ada in many regions
  • Teams wanting managed Kubernetes with GPU nodes and card, PayPal or invoice payment

Not published

  • RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell hourly prices: published only on akamai.com/cloud/pricing (403 to the capture browser) and absent from the public types API
  • per-size vCPU/RAM/disk split also not captured.
  • Company facts (legal entity, HQ, founding year, listing): akamai.com returned 403.
  • Compute SLA (akamai.com/legal/sla-compute) returned 403
  • SLA level and credits unknown.
  • Compliance certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, DPA) sit on the akamai.com Legal & Compliance Center, which returned 403.
  • Price of additional IPv4 addresses not captured.
  • Quadro RTX 6000 transfer allowance: the API lists 16000 to 20000 GB per plan while the network-transfer doc says Quadro RTX 6000 plans include no transfer.
  • Madrid and Milan are listed for RTX PRO 6000 in the GPU doc but lack the 'GPU Linodes' capability in the regions API.
  • Sign-up form fields (phone, address) and any ID verification policy are not documented in the captured pages.
  • Official Python SDK not confirmed from a captured page.
  • Object Storage base plan included capacity not stated in the API.
  • RTX 4000 Ada outbound bandwidth: the GPU doc table says 10 Gbps, the types API network_out says 16000 Mbps (16 Gbps is used in includes).

Observations

www.linode.com/pricing redirects to www.akamai.com/cloud/pricing, which returned 403 Access Denied (edge bot protection) to the capture browser on 2026-09-29; the rendered pricing page could not be observed.

The akamai.com pricing landing page routes to regional sub-pages (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, Jakarta) according to a WebFetch summary; the sub-pages also returned 403 to the browser.

Prices are machine-readable without an account at api.linode.com/v4/linode/types (hourly and monthly per plan plus region overrides), but RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell plans are not in that list.

The techdocs GPU page shows spec ranges per GPU family (cards, VRAM, vCPU, RAM, storage, transfer, bandwidth) and sends readers to the pricing page for prices.

Prices are quoted per plan (VM) per hour, not per GPU; Quadro RTX 6000 scales linearly at 1.50 USD per card, RTX 4000 Ada multi-card plans range from 0.525 to 0.8925 USD per card depending on vCPU, RAM and disk.
